Vibration Damper Assembly Tool

 

Tool used for disassembly and assembly of vibration damper and crankshaft setting

 

An essential kit required when locking the engine timing when the vibration damper needs to be removed.

The vibration damper on VAG 1.8 and 2.0 TSi / TFSi engines is locked in place by a central bolt. The central bolt clamps the timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft in place.

The locking teeth on the sprocket faces and crankshaft end are only held in position by the clamping force of the vibration damper central bolt.

Given that there is no keyway on the chain sprocket, once the central bolt is removed and the engine is turned, the camshaft timing position will be lost. This specialist kit contains the essential tools needed to hold the temporary position when the repair requires the removal of the vibration damper.
